What’s New in Compliance?
National State of Emergency May End Soon...
Unless it is extended (again), the national state of emergency is set to expire at the end of February. And regardless of whether it expires now, or is extended only to expire down the road, employers should start considering their communication strategy for when that time comes. As you will recall, federal relief extends certain employee benefit deadlines—and when the state of emergency ends—these extensions will end 60 calendar days later.
Planning for this eventuality will only simplify and streamline the communication process—if you choose to communicate to your impacted populations. Additionally, any communications, such as COBRA notices, that may include references to these extensions will need to be updated once the state of emergency expires. Learn more.
