Tip of the Month
Effective communication channels during Annual Enrollment are key to helping employees understand and engage with their benefits. But how often do benefit guides end up in the trash bin?
As a strategic advisor, this time of year is a great opportunity to help your clients build a communication strategy that actually works.
For instance, maybe your client has a highly dispersed, off-site population that doesn’t have access to a computer and would prefer mobile texts instead. Or maybe they have a less mobile workforce who is used to checking their email for benefits info. Consider who your clients are communicating to, and that will help you decide on the “how.”

What are “Trump Accounts”?
The OBBBA introduced a new federal initiative called Trump Accounts. Designed to help families build long-term financial security for children born between 2025 and 2028. Each eligible child will receive a $1,000 federal seed deposit, with additional annual contributions of up to $5,000 allowed from parents, employers, and others.
Key Details:

- Investments: Low-cost U.S. index funds/ETFs; earnings grow tax-deferred
- Employer Impact: Optional, tax-free contributions (pending IRS guidance
How to make this a win for your clients
Given the potential for optional tax-free contributions, consider how you can help educate and strategize with your clients to integrate this opportunity into their benefit programs—especially those focused on family support, financial wellness, or long-term savings.

Important Context for Your Clients on OBBBA
By now you might already be getting questions about OBBBA from your clients. You can leverage this as an opportunity to help strategically stay ahead of key changes in the bill, such as:
- Higher Dependent Care FSA Limits: Increased to $7,500 (or $3,750 for married employees filing separately). Note: Many employers cap contributions below the max for nondiscrimination testing purposes.
- Telehealth Coverage for HDHPs: HDHPs can now permanently cover telehealth and remote care services before the deductible is met (retroactive to 1/1/2025).
- HSA Coverage for Primary Care: HSA funds can now be used for primary care arrangements—up to $150/month for individuals or $300/month for families.
- Expanded HSA Eligibility: Bronze and catastrophic plan participants (via the exchange) are now eligible to contribute to HSAs.
- Paid Family Medical Leave: Enhancements to the tax credit program.
Our recent blog explores the impact of OBBBA in HR, offering key insights and strategies for your clients, such as reviewing claim cost drivers and creating a communication plan for the changes.

New and Noteworthy: Your Monthly Industry Update
Mental Health Doesn’t Take a Summer Break
Even in the season of sunshine and PTO, mental health challenges don’t pause. And while more employees are asking for better support, many still don’t know what is available to them. In fact, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, about 1 in 4 employees say they don’t even know whether their employer offers mental health benefits, EAPs, or flexible work options—a gap that can lead to underutilization and missed opportunities for support.
For Channel Partners, this is a chance to help clients cut through the confusion and make mental health support more accessible and actionable.
Here are three benefits worth spotlighting this summer:
• EAP Programs
Employees across generations consistently rank EAPs as a top-desired benefit. But our Empathy and Benefits Insights research shows that low awareness and unclear communication often lead to low usage. Highlight the value here—like access to licensed mental health professionals—and make it easy to understand.
• Flexibility
Summer schedules are full of travel, visitors, and patio plans. Flexibility shouldn’t just be a seasonal perk—it’s a meaningful way to support mental wellbeing and help employees recharge year-round.
• Caregiving Support
Summer can be especially tough for caregivers navigating new routines and added costs. Pairing flexibility with targeted support can make a big difference in how employees manage stress and stay engaged.
Check out how our client Beacon Health System revamped their PTO plan to support financial wellbeing and flexibility.
