VOICES of Black Women Study

A study to help improve the overall health of black women

Businessolver’s Client, The American Cancer Society, is fielding their VOICES of Black Women study. This groundbreaking, long-term study is powered by the voices of Black women across the U.S. The goal is life-changing: to better understand health conditions like cancer and learn how to improve overall health among this population. With the enrollment of at least 100,000 Black women between the ages of 25 and 55 who have never been diagnosed with cancer over the next few years, this goal is achieved as a collective.

VOICES of Black Women is enrolling people who:
    • are biologically female or identify as a woman.
    • identify as Black.
    • are between the ages of 25 and 55 years.
    • have never been diagnosed with cancer (except basal or squamous skin cancer).
    • live in any of the 50 U.S. states or Washington D.C. (District of Columbia).

Visit voices.cancer.org to learn more about this study and its impact.

Please complete this form if you're interested in offering the opportunity to participate in this study to your qualifying employees.

The One Thing: Optimize Your AI

Help Sofia work smarter

Did you know that Sofia can access information from all over Benefitsolver? She can cite specific information from PDFs in your reference center, plan details, vendor contact info, and so much more. That means our assistant needs an assist! If you are getting constant calls about plan details, deductible amounts, and “who is our dental vendor?” you might consider doing a little refresh on the information in your portal.

We’ve created this quick guide to Sofia with the top five things to update, and we’d like to invite you to our upcoming live training on how to maximize Sofia to make sure she’s taking the front line questions off your plate.

Also, your Q1 Sofia report will be available this week in your document center. Check it out!

Department of Health and Human Services to Undergo Major Restructuring

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced a major restructuring to align with President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency’s Workforce Optimization Initiative. This restructuring will result in a 10,000 employee reduction in full time staff. When combined with other efforts such as early retirement offers, this will result in a 24.4% decrease from 82,000 employees to 62,000 employees. This shift is intended to result in cost savings, streamlined functions, and the elimination of redundant units. The Department of HHS says their focus will be on fighting chronic illness and that Medicare, Medicaid, and that other essential health services will remain intact.
