Multi-Factor Authentication

Adding a layer of security for all members

To
continue safeguarding your employees’ sensitive benefits information, we’re enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all members logging into Benefitsolver®️. What is MFA? It's simply an additional layer of authentication added to the log in process. After an employee enters their username and password, they will be prompted with an email or text message to verify it is them.

Authentication is a common part of our everyday digital lives—whether we’re logging into a bank account, shopping online, or accessing personal health records. MFA brings that same level of protection to Benefitsolver, offering a more secure and trusted experience for your employees.

Additionally, this feature will help members who do not log in as often with updating their passwords more easily and getting them logged in. This update will not impact members who log in via SSO. Members can choose between an authenticator app, text message, or preferred email to verify their login.

We’ll continue to provide more information about this exciting enhancement. We currently plan to enable this update for all clients starting in waves on August 1. For more information, talk to you client team or watch our product update from earlier this month where we discussed this new feature.

The One Thing: Consider the Decision Support Tool

A tool that can make all the difference

Did you know that our Benefits Insight Report found that 69% of employees use decision support at enrollment when their employer offers it? Employees want this tool, and it can help them make better, more financially sound decisions at the time of enrollment.

Decision support is an included service, so it costs you nothing to set up. If you’re not in active annual enrollment preparation, now is a great time to set it up so you can reap the full benefits at your next annual enrollment.

New presidential executive order targets drug prices

On April 15, 2025, President Trump signed a new Executive Order directing his administration to develop a variety of plans designed to combat the costs of prescription drugs in Medicare, Medicaid, and improve competitive pricing in the prescription drug markets. With a variety of target deadlines and goals, this order requires the creation of multiple plans to be drafted to combat the costs of prescription drugs and their impact on Medicare Part D premiums, transparency into the Pharmacy Benefit Manager pricing for employer sponsored health plans, and more.

California AB-2843 brings changes to fully-insured plans for victims of rape or sexual assault.

Effective for plans issued, amended, renewed or delivered on or after July 1, 2025, the state of California has adopted a new requirement that mandates health insurance policies and health care service plans provide coverage without cost sharing for emergency room medical care and follow-up health care treatment for an enrollee or insured who is treated following a rape or sexual assault for the first 9 months after the enrollee initiates treatment.

The bill would prohibit a health care service plan or health insurer from requiring, as a condition of providing coverage, an enrollee or insured to file a police report, charges to be brought against an assailant, or an assailant to be convicted of rape or sexual assault.
