2025 State of Workplace Empathy: Mental Health Report
Data finds that employees at unempathetic workplaces are 3X more likely to view workplace as toxic and 1.3X more likely to experience a mental health issue
We’ve studied mental health in the workplace for the last five years and the data continues to tell us how closely linked empathy and mental health are. This year’s data highlights what organizations stand to lose if they don’t make an intentional effort to infuse empathy into their culture, operations, and benefits.
An average 57-point gap exists between the benefits employees say are most empathetic versus what they say their employer offers.
What does this tell us? Employee feedback, benefits communications, and real-time insights are crucial to impacting employee engagement and supporting total wellbeing.

Lend Your Voice to Shape the Future of HR Tech
2025-2026 Annual HR Systems Survey
Businessolver is proud to support a leading research initiative through Sapient Insights Group that uncovers key challenges, trends, and practices in HR technology. As a valued client, you’re invited to participate in the 28th Annual HR Systems Survey—a comprehensive effort that benefits the entire HR community. While the survey takes approximately 20 to 60 minutes to complete, your time is rewarded with several valuable perks.
Why Participate?
If you're familiar with your organization's HR practices or systems, your insights are especially important. By completing the survey, you’ll receive a full copy of the final research report, earn two IHRIM continuing education credits, and gain a mini-benchmark report tailored to your industry or region. Plus, you’ll get a copy of your own responses for future reference. Rest assured, all responses are confidential and only reported in aggregate. Data is anonymized and securely stored by a third-party SSAE-16 SOC II certified provider.
Improvements to UA and UA2 Test Environments
Creating a more stable testing experience
We are making strategic updates to improve the performance of our most frequently used non-production (testing) environments. The upgrades to our UA environments will increase stability, speed, and capacity and are expected to go live at the end of Q2. Our upgraded UA2 environment will provide better scalability, support higher traffic during peak season, and have better page load times. UA2 migration will come at the end of May.
In 2026, we will retire our CoreUA1 environment once we have verified that our UA and UA2 upgrades meet our business needs. This will remove redundancy and simplify environment management. We will communicate more about this as we get closer to sunsetting the environment.
These improvements will help create a better testing experience by saving you time and reducing confusion around the testing environments.

What’s New in Compliance?

Update on MHPAEA 2024 Final Rule Enforcement
The Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Treasury, and Labor have announced that they will not enforce the 2024 Final Rule regarding the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). This decision is influenced by a lawsuit from the Employee Retiree Income Security Act (ERISA) Industry Committee (ERIC) and President Trump’s Executive Order aimed at enhancing government efficiency.
Key Points:
- Enforcement Delay: The enforcement of the new provisions in the 2024 Final Rule will be paused until the lawsuit is resolved, plus an additional 18 months afterward.
- Use Existing Guidelines: Employers and Plan Sponsors should continue to follow the 2013 rule until a final ruling on the lawsuit is issued.
- Future Updates: We will provide updates once a final decision is made regarding the lawsuit.
Read the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announcement for more detail. Additionally, the ERIC complaint is available for further reading.
