Product News: Reference Center Upgrades
Enhancing the enrollment experience with smarter document tagging
Our latest enhancements to the Reference Center are designed to streamline annual enrollment for you and your members. With improved document tagging capabilities, you can now assign documents to specific divisions, subgroups, and plans—ensuring members see the right information at the right time.
New fields like Effective Date, Term Date, and Custom Visibility Dates allow for precise control over document availability. Additionally, documents can now be flagged for AI processing, enabling auto-generated plan detail text that simplifies decision-making during enrollment. Plus, SofiaSM can read your reference center and help members locate information.
These updates not only reduce administrative burden but also enhance clarity and confidence for members navigating their benefits.
To learn more about these upgrades and how to take advantage of them, join us for our Reference Center Best Practices training on Sept. 9.

What’s New in Compliance?
End of year reminders
With annual enrollment season rapidly approaching and the end of the year in sight, we wanted to take a moment to call out some compliance items that we encourage you to complete if you haven’t already.
- Nondiscrimination testing: While it is not uncommon for an employer to fail their Dependent Care FSA (Section 129) nondiscrimination testing, the real determination of how inconvenient that failure will be depends on how early in the year you complete your nondiscrimination testing. If you haven’t completed your 2025 nondiscrimination testing, we strongly encourage you to get it done ASAP. If a plan fails, there are steps your employees can take within the same tax year to correct their plan. Putting the testing off brings unnecessary risk for you and your employees.
- Review your ACA data: Review your hours data and reporting information for ACA purposes. Employers can save themselves some first quarter pain by completing their initial review of ACA data now. Reviewing the data now will allow you time to ensure your Q1 reporting process is seamless and timely.
- Review your plan documents: Are your plan documents updated? While many employers work to make their plan document updates during the pre-AE summer months, ensuring your plan documents are properly updated and accessible is important to both the employer and their employees and is worth doing before the start of the new year.
- Keep track of changing requirements: With changes in federal (ACA percentages, FSA and HSA contribution limits, etc.) and state laws (Illinois parent/stepparent coverage requirements for fully insured plans), employers should ensure they are up to date on the evolving benefits landscape.
The best way to do that? Keep reading The Wire! We’ll keep you up to date on all things in compliance.
Plus, join us for Q4 Product & Compliance Update and the Navigating the 2026 Benefits Compliance Landscape Roundtable. We'll talk all things compliance at both end-of-year sessions.
MyChoice Accounts FSA Plan Year Closing Reminder
It’s time to consider your 2024 plan year closing for your FSA by November. Members must provide appropriate substantiation for or repay any outstanding claims to avoid having those funds move into imputed income. We have provided a member-level email template at the system level if you would like to work with your client team to deploy this email to impacted employees.
