Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Update

Safeguarding you and your members' information

Over the last few weeks, we have completed improvements to our MFA functionality to reinforce the highest possible security standards in our system. Previously, our MFA process allowed members to enter any email address or cell phone number of their choice for verification. To better fortify our system, that process has been refined. Now, MFA will use only the email address or cell phone number already on file for each participant.

This update helps ensure that verification codes are sent only to trusted contact information. Additionally, MFA is now required on every login to ensure your members information is secure. Members can update their MFA settings within their profile once they log in.

If a member does not have a cell phone or email on file, they will be directed to call in to their technical support line. If that is within our Service Center, our advocates will authenticate the individual. They'll then add an email or cell phone number in Benefitsolver to ensure they can log in during their next attempt.

While we understand that any change in login experience can be an adjustment, this update was necessary to ensure the highest level of security for all members.

Check out our new guide to learn how you can update member contact information and reset MFA for your members.

Sofia’s New FAQ Match Functionality

Driving a better member experience by providing the most relevant FAQs

Sofia just got smarter and is now giving members even more support during their enrollment. Previously, Sofia could only display FAQs for a limited set of plans (medical, dental, vision). With her new FAQ Match functionality, we have greatly expanded that! She now is able to recognize the majority of your plan options and bring forward thoughtful FAQs to match.

Members will now see the most relevant FAQs through every stage of their enrollment. Sofia can help educate the member and proactively provide questions to members based on the page they’re looking at. Additionally, we’ve refreshed all system-level FAQs to better reflect member needs.

This update is in production now and will provide a real impact for you and your members—empowering them through self-service to get the assistance they need even faster.

What’s New in Compliance?

New 1095 form guidance is in effect this ACA reporting season

In Notice 2025-15, the IRS clarified that employers may satisfy 1095-C distribution requirements by posting a notice on a website accessible to all employees, informing them that the form is available upon request—eliminating the need to mail paper copies, provided the notice is posted in a timely manner. This option is only available if the notice is posted on the employer’s website and 1095 forms are distributed within 30 days to those participants who request one.

At Businessolver, we will honor each employee’s 1095 print preferences unless you, our client, explicitly opts out of print functionality. This approach applies to all print scenarios, including terminated employees and any applicable state mandates. That said, if an employee requests a printed 1095, we will fulfill that request, even if their employer has opted out of print functionality. If you do choose to opt out printing, we kindly request that you complete a work order during your discovery phase, no later than Dec. 15, 2025.

This guidance doesn’t impact the reporting requirements in several states that mandate distributed notices. California, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Washington, D.C. are among them.

Read the full guidance for more information.

Review our Paperwork Burden Reduction Act: 1095 Print Preferences Guidance to learn more about the notice and timing requirements, and what this means for you and your employees.

IRS Updates 2026 Limits for Spending Accounts

The IRS has issued updates for 2026 for the inflation-adjusted amounts for contributions to health flexible spending arrangements. The 2026 contribution limit for FSAs is $3,400. If the cafeteria plan permits the carryover of unused amounts, the maximum carryover amount is $680. If you have indicated that the system should update your maximums for the upcoming year to align with the IRS, those updates go into effect Fri., Oct. 24, so enrolling members can elect the 2026 maximum. Any client wishing to update their maximum amounts before this date may do so manually with their client team.

See Rev. Proc. 25-32 for the full list of inflation-adjusted updates.

Newborn health coverage impacted by Texas’s SB 896 Law

Texas has enacted SB 896—a new law that expands the coverage period for newborn children in fully-insured plans. It also gives parents additional time to provide a notice of the birth and submit any required payments for additional premiums.  Additionally, the law places restrictions on these plans by requiring they cover certain aspects of newborn healthcare.

SB 896 impacts plans issued, renewed, or delivered on or after January 1, 2026. It has no impact on self-insured plans.

Read the text of SB 896 for more detail.
