Enrollment updates for Annual Enrollment 2027
Designed to make enrollment easier and more self‑directed
Annual enrollment works best when the steps are clear. For annual enrollment 2027, we’re rolling out updates that help members move through enrollment with more clarity.
These updates give members clearer steps and more control:
- Easier self‑service changes, like removing dependents during enrollment
- Fewer screens and clicks for a smoother, faster experience
- A clear summary that shows members exactly what they changed before they submit their enrollment
When enrollment is easy to follow, members finish with fewer mistakes. They can see what they changed and feel sure before they submit. The result is a smoother enrollment, fewer follow-up questions, and a more consistent experience each year.

Leadership update: Sony SungChu named Chief AI Officer at Businessolver
AI is more than a benefits enhancement. It’s the foundation of intelligent, proactive benefits administration.
Sony has been with Businessolver for more than nine years and most recently served as Head of Science & Innovation. In that role, he helped build the technical base for Businessolver’s intelligence features. This includes the systems behind Sofia℠, which supports our technology and service. Sony also brings experience from Amazon.
As Chief AI Officer, Sony will lead our AI work across product development, governance, and use in our platform. The goal is to move from reactive support to earlier, more proactive help. We’ll use data and AI to spot issues sooner and guide people in key moments.

What’s new in compliance?
Wisconsin Expands Breast Screening Coverage Requirements
Wisconsin issued guidance summarizing new laws that expand required coverage for certain breast screening exams. The law increases coverage for diagnostic and additional screenings and limits cost sharing for members. This applies to certain, fully insured group health plans.
The changes take effect for plan years beginning January 1, 2027.
Employers with plans subject to Wisconsin law should review plan designs and confirm carriers or TPAs are prepared to meet the new coverage rules. Planning ahead can help avoid mid‑cycle plan changes and member confusion.

CMS Updates Section 111 GHP Reporting User Guide
CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) released an updated version of the Section 111 Group Health Plan User Guide. The update includes changes to technical and operational guidance for Medicare Secondary Payer reporting.
The updated guidance applies to employers and vendors responsible for GHP reporting.
Employers should review the changes and confirm that reporting processes align with the updated requirements. Inaccurate or missed reporting can result in penalties, so coordination with reporting partners is important.
Check out the updated guidance to ensure your reporting processes are good to go.
DOL Signals Shift in ERISA Enforcement Priorities
The Department of Labor issued guidance outlining new ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) enforcement priorities. The agency will focus on serious fiduciary violations and cases involving significant participant harm, while continuing to enforce disclosure, claims, and Part 7 requirements.
Employers should ensure fiduciary processes are documented and conflicts of interest are monitored. Clear records and established procedures can help reduce risk during a review.
Review the guidance to ensure you are compliant.
